Are You Looking for a First Date Idea?
One of the most common questions that people ask when dating someone new is, “what to do for a first date?” There is nothing more satisfying and enjoyable than a good date, however, it can be quite annoying if the dream date turns out to be a nightmare. Therefore, it is extremely important that you strike the right note on your first date. Remember, the first impression is the best impression! So try and make it last.
The Idea
Before jumping ahead of yourself and selecting what seems to be a good idea for a date, it might be a good thing to try and understand what kind of a person you are going out with. If you know his/her interests beforehand, your date might turn out to be a cakewalk. If you have no idea about them, then just select a nice, safe, simple yet fun idea to start your date. Churn your creative juices or ask friends for suggestions. You are bound to get a lot of fun date ideas.
The Best of the Lot
It’s generally best to keep your first date as simple as possible. You can start with a small walk. Avoid vehicular traveling as this reduces the journey time thus giving you less time to know each other. This time is useful and you could use it to conjure up a nice chat. A nice walk added with a chirpy chat can elevate the mood setting the tempo for the rest of the day. Depending on the outcome of the walk you could plan the next stop on your itinerary. If you both enjoyed the walk, then you would be longing for more. In such a scenario, head for the nearest restaurant. It would be a nice if you go for a cuisine suitable to both. You do not want to end up being the only one enjoying the food. Remember food is secondary; it is the date which is more important. After the meal, you can make an offer for a movie. It will provide you with the much-needed quiet time in each other’s company. Discuss the options available for the movies while you are in the restaurant and go for a movie you both would like to watch.
- Food Tip: Avoid heavy and starchy food as it will make you sleepy and you do not want to be yawning when you are on a date.
- Movie Tip: Do not go for movies with high content of action or drama, as it will require a lot of concentration. Opt for a lighthearted flick.
Second option
The above scenario was if you had a good chat, enjoyed it and were raring for more. But there are others who find themselves tongue tied. The walk to the restaurant might just turn out to be a form of exercise for them. In such a case, instead of heading to the restaurant, head to the movies first. You might feel a bit relaxed and start up a small conversation during the movie. You can continue this conversation after the movie in a restaurant or a stroll in a park.
Ending Your First Date
It is equally important to end your date on a good note provided you want to repeat the experience. Here, the guys have to show chivalry, they have to drop the girl home and say that they enjoyed their company and that it was one of their best days ever. Remember nothing peps up a person like some plain old flattery. Incase it is the other way round, the girl needs to let the guy know that she had great time and would love to meet up again.
- Goodbye Tip: No matter how modern we are, the guy should drop the girl home.
These were some simple, tried and tested ideas for your first date. Of course, for the wacky and adventurous, there are loads of fun date ideas out there. All you need to do is explore.
Happy dating!
