The Attraction and Appeasement of Pheromone Spray
Pheromones are secreted by the skin or hair of various species of animals or insects and travel through the air to alert other animals or insects of their species of certain information. This information can be about the sex of the animals, their rank in the pack, whether they are in heat, as well as various other types of information. There are also pheromones that have an appeasing affect of the recipient, such as the pheromones of a lactating female dog during the first five days of her puppies’ lives.
The Usefulness of Pheromones
Pheromone sprays have been invented of the last five years to mimic some of these pheromones. Since pheromones are small organic molecules that travel through the air, the recipient of the pheromone inhales the pheromone through the nostrils and the scent is converted to electrical signals that the brain decodes. Scientists have found a way to synthesize some of these pheromones so that they can be used to stimulate sexual attraction, such as in human beings, or they can also be used to stimulate a calm, relaxed feeling, such as in dogs, cats and horses.
Types of Sprays
Today, you can find multiple types of pheromone sprays. Some sprays are diffused into the air through a dispenser that plugs into the wall and emits the spray at regular intervals, much like an air freshener. Other sprays can be taken on the go so that they are handily available in any situation. Still others are loaded into collars so that a dog is never without the soothing pheromone spray. Another type of spray, used mostly by humans, is sprayed directly onto clothing to maximize effect. The spray is mixed with alcohol so that it evaporates quickly without staining the clothing, yet still leaves the potent pheromones behind.
As mentioned above, pheromone spray for animals is normally used to produce a calming effect. For instance, cat pheromone spray is diffused into the cat’s environment to lessen feelings of anxiety or competition with other cats in the same environment, which then reduces the clawing and spraying in the house. Pheromone sprays for dogs and horses are also designed to produce this calming affect, so that events like thunderstorms no longer reduce the animal to a panting, trembling mess.
Pheromone spray for humans is usually produced to stimulate attraction between males and females. Women seem to be able to sense the pheromones more than men are, so the male sex pheromones are more likely to produce the attraction desired by those who purchase the product.
